Privacy Policy

You are visiting the website of AMH Counselling & Psychotherapy. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, you may contact us at amhcounselling@hushmail.com.

AMH Counselling & Psychotherapy respects your right to privacy and complies with applicable Irish data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation.

The data controller responsible for your personal data is Anne-Marie Hearne, known as AMH Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Information We Collect

We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide via email, including:

  1. Your name
  2. Your email address
  3. The content of your message

We do not use your information for marketing purposes, and we do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Because we provide a therapy service, the content of your inquiry may include information about your mental or physical health, or other sensitive personal details. This is known as “special category data” under Article 9 of the GDPR and requires a higher level of protection.

Where you choose to share this kind of information with us, for example, in a contact form message or email describing why you are seeking therapy, we process it on the basis of your explicit consent (Article 9(2)(a) GDPR). You are not obliged to share sensitive details before an initial consultation, and you may choose to discuss these matters with us directly instead of in writing.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected. As a general guide:

  • Enquiry correspondence that does not lead to therapy sessions is retained for up to 12 months, then deleted
  • Client records relating to therapy sessions are retained in line with professional and insurance requirements for psychotherapy practice in Ireland

Website Analytics

This website is hosted on WordPress.com. WordPress.com provides privacy-focused website analytics (Jetpack Stats) which help us understand general visitor trends, such as the number of visitors and pages viewed. These analytics:

  • Do not involve advertising cookies
  • Do not profile users
  • Do not track you across other websites
  • Collect limited, anonymised information

Analytics data is used solely to improve the website.

Cookies

This website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. Any cookies used are strictly necessary for the website to function (for example, session security) and do not require your consent under the ePrivacy Regulations. You can view and manage cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Data Storage

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, including relying on WordPress.com’s secure hosting infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request erasure of your data, where applicable
  • Request restriction of, or object to, our processing of your data
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format, where applicable
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at amhcounselling@hushmail.com. We will respond within one month, as required by GDPR.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page.
